Red Tailed Hawk

Here is a Red Tailed Hawk. The tail is distinctive.

"You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself."

Red Tailed Hawk

I watched this hawk for 45 minutes, hoping for it to move to another position. He didn't move except to take another bite from his catch. He kept watch in all 4 directions constantly.

This reminds me of the verse in Psalm 130:6 "My soul waits for the Lord
More than the watchmen for the morning;
Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning."

Let us be awake to the world around us. There are many opportunities to share the Lord and to pray for the needy. Keep watch, the Lord will bring opportunities our way.

Father, I look to you for your guidance and direction in life. Let me see Your guidance. In Jesus name it will happen.

Red Tailed Hawk

The tail is not distictive but the black stripe on the inner front of the wing is a good marker for a Red Tailed Hawk.

Immature Red Tailed Hawk

.

Looking at the bird keys, the white breast and the white eye stripe and the smaller head and neck points to an immature Red Tailed Hawk.

Camouflaged Red Tailed Hawk

I was out of gas in my work truck and came to the gas pumps. One pump was slow and that was the only one open. I took this as on opportunity to search the sky for the Red tailed hawk that frequented the area.

I saw what looked like a clump of leaves with my binoculars. I took my camera and zoomed all the way to get the shot. After taking the photo I looked at the screen zooming in again as far as I could and I realized I got a photo of the hawk!

It was worth waiting for the diesel.

Red Tailed Hawk

What a day when you get to take these photos when you are not even looking for nature photos!

I saw this Red Tailed Hawk while working last week.

Red Tailed Hawk

Walking along a forest trail road I heard a Red Tailed hawk. I was not looking for birds, I was looking for snow photos. I heard its call first, then I stared searching the sky for it. I saw it flying amongst the trees. I rapidly got my camera out but it was too late. Later I heard it again and tried to get my camera out but to no avail. The third time I got a photo of the hawk flying away.

Sorry but my camera can't do much better than that for wildlife. Click the photo for a larger view.

Osprey on the Blue river

Driving east along Colamine Rd I saw a large bird with a white head. I pulled over thinking it might be a Bald eagle. It hovered in the air then dropped to the river. I noticed the white breast along with the white head.

I got out of my truck and went down to the river but I saw no more sign of it.

A red tailed hawk was watching this whole process. When he saw me cross the road he
had enough and flew off from his perch from a power pole.
