Crows

Caught these crows in flight. As I walked across the Johnson Atkins Museum yard. They flew right over my head and I grabbed my camera and started shooting.

Crow

Canon 7D Canon EF-S 55-250mm 1:4 - 5.6 IS STM lens 1/640 f/6.3 216mm ISO 100

Best photo yet of a crow. They don't give me much of a chance. I asked this guy to hang tight for a photo. He waited till I opened my car and got my camera and I got 3 photos and then he took off. :)

When I can live ready I get more chances. If I had my 400mm lens it would have been a better shot.

Crow Headed Out

I saw 3 crows land in a tree but the view was obstructed. As I moved to get a clear photo they took off. This is the last of the 3. As they took off they were squawking warnings to each other and maybe to other crows on the periphery.

They wanted to keep something between me and them. When I moved they became intimidated and left.

We can be intimidated by God and His teachings in the Bible. But this shows we don't know God or His love for us. The crows didn't know me and they were not going to take a chance to find out. We can't know God if we don't take a chance and seek to find Him.

Matthew 28:18-30
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Crows on Guard

We drove to an area I new crows stayed at in the winter. Sure enough there were a bunch of crows flying back and forth between a park area and a row of trees. We parked in a gravel area where I positioned the car to photo the crows flying back and forth.

Crows summer and nest to the north and come south in the winter. I don't see crows around here in the summer. So I'm assuming they all leave. There are some crows that stay in an area all year around. If they stay in the Kansas City area I don't know of it.

Crows are moving more and more to urban areas. Could it be that they have learned that hunting is not allowed in the city? They will eat food waste that is around cities,.

They will roost in large groups. This could be for protection as an owl might attack at night. With a large group they will hear the alarm and scatter.

I have read they live up to at least 17 years. Though up to half of the new born crows don't make it long. One thing I always notice about crows they have a guard crow up in a tree watching for the crows that are foraging along the ground. If the guard crows sound the alarm the crows will all flay away.

Christians need to on guard as well. Many things will sneak up on us and hinder our walk and service for God.

1 Peter 5:8
"Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."

Crow

I had looked for crows earlier this year but didn't find them. This one just flew in while we were walking through the park and gave me this chance for photos He was calling and then turned as if to look to see what I was up to. .I guess he had finished his business there and flew off.

Crows have a language of many sounds. He was doing one type of call and then changed it before he left.

Flying Crows

Photobucket I drove up to a spot and stopped not paying attention to my surroundings  Some crows gathered to eat bread cast along the roadside. Quite a few were there, my guess about 50.

When I noticed the crows I got my camera and set the aperture and speed so I would be ready when I rolled down the window. When I opened the window they all instantly took off. I took this photo of them flying away.

We never know when an opportunity will present itself so be ready always. This is true in life ans well as in the Spirit. It says in Luke 12:35 be dressed in readiness and keep your lamps lit.

Crows

I saw a bunch of crows on my lunch hike today. These fellows seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Crows

I was watching a field of crows eating at Blue Valley park. Guard crows were in the trees circling the group. Most would continue walking across the grass searching for food. A few would fly over to the trees to the east. Then a few would fly back to the grass to eat.

There were more than 1000 of them.

When they were flying over to the trees they would have the tips of their wings pointed up. When they would land going west the tips were aligned with the wing.

This would go on for about 10 minutes. When I had pulled up with my truck and stopped. The crows gave me space but weren’t bothered.

Then all of a sudden all the crows were flying except 1 section of them. And it wasn’t 10 seconds before that group were on the move also.

I thought someone must be walking across the park or a couple of stray dogs were coming this way. Then I saw a red tailed hawk land in a tree to the north. The red tail shown in the sunlight.

All the crows are gone and 1 Red tailed hawk was sitting in the tree. Later another Red tailed hawk flew over and both of them flew off together.

Some of the crows might of gone to the Blue river bottoms to the east. A few crows
moved back into the trees to my east. But moved away quickly.
